Mike Joy floats legal action over nitrate pollution ‘ecocide’

Strangely, for someone so outspoken, Mike Joy goes from head-first-plunging activist to proceeding with tip-toeing tentativeness.
It’s last Wednesday night at Christchurch’s central library, Tūranga – the launch of his book, The Fight For Freshwater. The ecologist regales the crowd with tales of his past as a taxi driver and spy, and talks passionately about the plight of the country’s waterways, some choked by oxygen-depeleting algal blooms.
